In Spain, where a recent interview took place, Diario Marca asked the Cucuta midfielder everything about his current situation, the limited minutes he has been getting at Rayo Vallecano, his feelings about this, his retirement date, and what he thinks he will do when he stops being a professional player.

At 34 years old, having play for prestigious clubs such as Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Everton. He is aware that there is less time left, but he wants to make the most of what he has left to experience.

James signed a one-year deal with Rayo Vallecano on a free transfer in the summer but the Colombia playmaker has made just seven La Liga appearances and started just once, a decision taken by coach Inigo Perez. But the 34-year-old midfielder has yet to complain about his current situation. 

‘It’s a decision I didn’t make. It’s something I can’t control. I take responsibility for my part, but whether I play or not, I can’t control that.’

‘My mission is to train well, to be physically fit. As I do now and as I have show playing for the Colombian national team. If I am not physically fit, I will not play. That is why I try to take care of myself a lot. I try to train well in case I have to play, to be ready.’
